Primary Schools Sportsman of the Year of The Eden District

Jordan Duminy of the Louis 57 Oosthuizen Junior Golf Academy recently was a finalist at The Eden Sports Awards which was held by The Eden Sports Council. Well ,Jordan won the category, Primary Schools Sportsman of the Year  of The Eden District.  The keynote speaker was Lawrence Sizwe Ndlovu ,South African Olympic gold medalist for rowing.

Well done Jordan, this award is your reward for all the many hours of practice and your dedication to the game of golf. We are extremely proud of you!

Vorster hits the front in China

Double Ekurhuleni joy at A Boys U-13 Champs

Ekurhuleni junior Liam van Deventer delighted in a double celebration after the young gun scored a play-off victory in the prestigious Nomads SA Boys U-13 Championship and helped his team to win the Team Competition at Wingate Park Country Club on Wednesday.

Van Deventer was two off the pace from Southern Cape’s Jordan Duminy at the start of the final round, but the Germiston young gun reeled in four birdies to offset three dropped shots for a one-under-par 71 to set the clubhouse target at four-over-par 221.

Duminy from Mossel Bay birdied the second and bogeyed the fifth to stay in front, but after 12 straight pars, the Louis Oosthuizen Junior Golf Academy member dropped a shot at the par-five 18th to finish in a tie for lead at the end of regulation play.

The leaders finished the first extra hole in par, but during the third trip down the 18th, Van Deventer turned the tide in his favour. He timed his second shot perfectly and finished 20 meters before the green, while Duminy overshot the pin.

The Ekurhuleni junior chipped to six feet and drained the birdie putt for victory.

Meanwhile Yurav Premlall carded a 79, Zamokuhle Nxasana returned 82, Casey Jarvis registered an 82 and Jaryd Venter contributed an 84 to win the Team Competition.

The runner’s up last year, Ekurhuleni scored 392 in the first two rounds and combined for a 399 in the final round to defeat Central Gauteng by two shots.

Oosthuizen’s protégé takes pole at SA Boys U-13

PRETORIA, 7 October 2014 – Louis Oosthuizen Junior Golf Academy member, Jordan Duminy, took pole position at the 36-hole mark of the prestigious Nomads SA Boys U-13 Championship on Tuesday.

One off the pace after an opening 74 at Wingate Park Country Club, the 11-year-old Southern Cape junior negated two bogeys with a pair of birdies for an even-par 73 in round two to take the lead at one-over-par 147.

Duminy leads by one from first round leader, Emerson Bam, who returned a 75, and fellow Southern Cape golfer, Barend Botha.

While the bulk of the field have struggled with the lightning fast and hard greens, Botha from Oubaai and Luka Stanisavljevic from Serbia got the measure of the championship layout to share the lowest round honour with a one-under-par 72s.
